Data & methodology

Understand the evidence behind your comparison.

ClearLTC brings published facility information into comparisons you can use. Here you can check who publishes the records, what they cover, and the limits to keep in mind when reviewing a facility.

Our data principles

No pay-for-placement

Facility ratings cannot be edited or boosted by paying us. There is no preferred-partner tier. Ever.

Source-traceable

Source attribution helps you check the published evidence behind a facility comparison.

Florida-first

Our directory focuses on Florida nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Available records vary by facility type.

Dates in context

Public records describe a reporting period or past event. A recent update does not mean the information reflects today’s conditions.

Source providers

Where the information comes from.

01

CMS

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services

Published ratings, staffing, quality measures and inspection records for Medicare- and Medicaid-certified nursing homes.

02

Florida AHCA

Florida Agency for Health Care Administration

State licensing, inspections and compliance records for Florida nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

03

HHS

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services

Public ownership information for Medicare-certified nursing facilities.

04

Google

Google Places

Public ratings and reviews where available. These reflect reviewer experiences and are separate from official inspection findings.

Reading the evidence

Know what a record can tell you.

Coverage varies. Nursing homes and assisted living facilities have different reporting requirements. A missing measure does not necessarily mean poor performance, and the same comparison may not be available for both facility types.

ClearLTC grades are our own summaries. They use published evidence to help you compare facilities and are distinct from official CMS ratings. Our methodology explains the categories, weights and safeguards behind a grade. Facilities cannot pay to change their ratings. How to interpret ClearLTC grades →

Check the dates. Source agencies publish on different schedules. An update date can differ from the reporting period or inspection date. Use the dates and coverage notes provided with a profile or report, and verify current conditions directly when they matter to your decision.

Records can differ. Agencies may report different values or cover different periods. Check the original record for context. If something looks incorrect, report an inaccuracy so we can review it.

What we don't claim to have

We'd rather be honest than oversell.

Aggregating public data has real limits. Here's what ClearLTC doesn't show you, and why.

  • HIPAA-protected resident outcomes or medical records
  • Confidential or unsubstantiated complaints (we only publish AHCA-substantiated)
  • Internal facility documents, contracts, or financial filings
  • Real-time bed availability — published rates can shift daily
  • Subjective resident or family experiences beyond public Google reviews

If you're considering a placement, treat ClearLTC as the strongest starting point, and confirm specifics (current availability, room types, current pricing) directly with the facility.
